CORONAVIRUS PLANNING & RESPONSE UPDATE
March 12, 2020
Dear KinderFrogs Families,
TCU has taken precautionary steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus). These steps include extending Spring Break through March 20, and resuming classes for college students via distance/online platforms from March 23 to at least April 3rd. In short, the intent is for the vast majority of TCU’s graduate and undergraduate students to be away from campus until at least April 3.
This action was taken due to the rapid spread and unpredictable nature of this disease, which just yesterday was designated as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Additionally, this allows the university to implement social distancing, which can slow the spread of disease.
Our main priority is to minimize risk to TCU Laboratory School students. Therefore, we too will extend Spring Break through March 20 and we will resume teaching and learning functions through online or distance-type formats from March 23 through at least April 3.
I know that many of your children have medication and supplies (notebooks, texts, tablets) at school that they may need over the coming weeks. Parents may come by the school to pick up medications and learning supplies Monday, March 16 or Tuesday, March 17, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please contact us to schedule a time to retrieve your child’s items so that we can provide them to you in a timely fashion and avoid having too many parents show up at once. Connect with Vivian Unger to schedule your preferred arrival time.
During the week of March 16-20, KinderFrogs staff will work to finalize instructional continuity plans. I will send another email early next week with more detailed information that will take into account the different needs and populations of the schools. To be frank, no online platform or distance method can hope to replicate what happens at KinderFrogs School on a regular basis in an in-person format, but we will work to ensure your children are well-positioned to make progress during this challenging time. Our highest priority is keeping our children and community as safe as possible.

Suffice it to say we will postpone our “Social Media Awareness Night” event originally slated for March 19. We will invite Dr. Curby Alexander to visit with us about this very important issue at some point in the near future.
Thank you all for your patience and support during this current challenge. We are working to respond appropriately and in a way that neither overreacts nor underreacts. Our plans and actions may change, of course, as we gain new information and data, but our goal is always to provide the best schooling opportunities possible while also balancing the need to ensure a safe and healthy campus for all of our Starpoint students.
